Dark brown rock with orange clay in the middle.

Hello everyone my name is Shalene and I found this river rock in the east Kooteney’s British Columbia Canada I’m having a hard time identifying it, It’s smooth on the outside but has Clay On the inside almost looks like oh Henry chocolate bar... what have I found Thanks

is the clay chalky or soft? Sometimes objects get coated, layered with other material over time.

I think you've found an ironstone concretion which has broken open. This one happens to be from the UK but you'll find them anywhere there is sedimentary rock and iron-rich groundwater.

Around here that is called limonite. This is the stuff that caused the concrete people to quit using gravel with limonite. It holds water and when it's in concrete and freezes it expands and pops out a piece of concrete. Concrete around here now has white limestone added instead of gravel. Gary
