On Facebook I have started the thirty day count down and will disappear completely in early July. Somehow over there I lost my moderator abilities on a page I created. My group numbers were not all that big, but I never set out to grow numbers of members. I had to screen requests to join, if one appeared to be a scammer or had their setting as private so nothing could be learned about them, they were ignored simple as that. The important parts were the announcement sections with book information. In other words an advertising page, three of them.
I well continue on YouTube which hasn't had a video added in some time and here.
That's about it on that subject.

I briefly held a Facebook account but they challenged me around the first time I posted a comment and locked it up because I didn't use my "real" name. I really never do on the internet or any "public" media. No Twitter, Tic Toc, Instagram, Tumblr . . . though I do watch YouTube a lot and view Imgur.

I come here to share with strangers. ;-)

Had social media for a very short while. Too much drama, politics, and stress. Felt great to delete it all.

I tried FaceBook early on. The big game then was to get the most amount of "friends" you could. I didn't try to play that game. Then when everyone started posting everything about themselves, I decided I didn't even need to know that much about myself, let alone them! That is when I closed my account and don't do social media at all except a couple of these Th'ing forums. And I'm far better off for it!

When I am not trapped in Texas by closed borders, I live in rural Mexico in the central highlands in a Third world village. In that village most communication is by Facebook or Facebook Messenger. There isn't a lot of nasty politics, a lot of gorgeous girls put their photos with nice but not immoral photos, and they get hundreds of likes for nothing but an off the shoulder blouse. I work hours on a serious posting and get 6.

There was another reason to delete Facebook. It was the spies and my wife had the user name and password to my account. Her daughter was informing her of my posts and they were upsetting her. I was working on an autobiography and it had a lot in it about women who were well before her time. The ladies at work who I shared selections of the material, claimed it was what was in those romance novels. It was to be a whole change of course from the lost treasure material. None of them have a way to check in here, so I can post about it. I used my H.S. class page as a blog, but didn't use any names. (The class page was pretty boring and I was happy to bring it to life). Still folks knew who was who. She had me destroy all the material, but I can recreate it since I lived it.

I'm pretty much the same as everyone else here on this thread. Tried facebook for about 6months...felt like a full time job. Couldnt comprehend everyone documenting every pizza, glass of wine, walk on the beach etc etc. Ive lived in a media blackout for the past 10 or 12 years. I come out for the US elections. In my opinion all social media is toxic manipulated falsehood that stops people from leading their real lives.
The current unrest in the US and other parts of the world are in my opinion is at least partly fueled by toxic crud served up CONTINUALLY on these flimsy platforms.
Facebook envy, editing and censorship of content, data mining, pushing agendas through the cancer machine in your pocket....proof is in the pudding....tech does not ultimately unite people in a meaningful way. Ive never seen a planet so divided!
Remember the start of the George Reeves Superman - Superman stood for "Truth, Justice and the American way". Compare that to the current state of affairs. I'm so grateful to have been a child of the 70s when we grew up and lived free and normal.
Telephones belong on the wall in the kitchen or in a box on the street ( nice easy target for extreme left thugs)

Opened a FB account couple years ago cause my wife sent me something like a picture to look at. Never posted never put up a profile never answered a friend request. Disabled notifications and guess I’m a “ member” but effectively not.
Never tried any other platform. Heard Twitter is a digital cesspool. Agree social media is a net detriment to society although it can enable shut-ins and disabled people something they can’t otherwise have socially.
I do TN and two other detecting forums and I’d like to join a Siberian Husky forum. There’s other interest forums I’d consider too. YouTube is good if you stay where your interest is for me MD Christian and some paranormal but still a bunch of crap you have to sort through. Pornography should be banned outright in my opinion. At least all the hard core sicko stuff which is 99 percent.
That’s my view.

just go into settings and you can deactivate or delete your account. Deactivation means you can reactivate it later and won't lose everything, but deleting it means it's all gone!

Mine was deactivated for years but I had to get it back to access my work facebook page, but I never use it for anything but work. Scrolling through the newsfeed makes my brain hurt.:BangHead:

Fakebook booted me for breathing while being patriotic. That was a while ago, haven't missed it.

Sadly, they do that here, too. Nowadays, professing your love of your country and pointing out the actual problems that face it, as opposed to the BS that they're trying to feed us, is likely to get you attacked and banned from a lot of sites.
