Been studying up on local history around here trying to find something older and not have to detect grass for a change. Figured out a spot that looked promising for dam workers (Hoover Dam). Finding anything that's not on the NRA property is challenging. Once I got onto the area I had figured on, I started seeing lots of rusty cans that had been opened by church key or with a knife. Then I saw a part of an oil lantern and knew I was in the right spot.
The first good signal I got was a 1940 Jefferson nickel that was fully visible eroding from the ground.
Then I got a nice clean high tone and pulled a 1941-s Quarter.
And we all know not to move along until you recheck the hole...

Then I got another quarter signal, but nope, an old silver ring without it's stone.
Moved a little bit further along and got another nickel signal in the shadow between bushes, knelt down and there was a 1928 Buffalo lying there in wait!
Several bullets and casings later I scored a complete Colgate lipstick, a 1941 Jefferson nickel, a 1941 wheat penny, part of an old earring, a couple of 32-20 casings, a 32 S&W casing, a 2 year safety award pin, a strange key, a belt clip thingy and two junk, but old, rings. The ring with the red stone says 'Made in USA' inside.
The tobacco can is something I see frequently, but this one actually had the paper sleeve inside still intact, thought that was kinda cool.
Lots of neat cactus down here too.
There was also a broken bottle that said "Coca Cola" on it, but I've never seen one similar.
