Hello everyone did a box of nickels last night that yielded a 43' P war nick, a 1912 V nickel, (my 3rd one ever) and this; a 1946 jeff with what seems to have a heck of a die crack on the reverse. Just wanted another opinion if someone could shed light on it for me. Happy hunting everyone.

Lamination error.

These are far more common than many realize. Caused by insufficient or improper annealing when creating cupronickel sheets prior to punching blank planchettes.

This type of error is caused not by the mint, or the minting process, but rather by a contractor whose quality control slipped a bit.

Time for more coffee.

Definitely a lamination error.
