I found this yesterday near an old home place in Houston County, Ga. Got a good solid 88 on my g2 at 8". It appears to be bronze and measures 2.370" wide. The only marking I find is 2T stamped on the top at the 10 o'clock position as seen in the first photo. If anyone has any ideas about what it is, please let me know.

I believe you are exactly right. I remember seeing a smaller version of this that was in a foot valve on a jet pump I helped father pull at my home place when I was young. The raised portion in the center retained a cone shaped spring that pushed the check in the opposite direction of the water flow. Thanks for the reply Tony.
