My Sweet Wife lined up a BDay trip 2.5 hrs away to see some Buffalo. She got Me a new detector for My BDay😳, so I got to bring it with Us😁
Put in a good hunt today. Got 2 permissions. One was a bed and breakfast that had no tennants at the moment. It was built in the 30's. The other was a neat little ground level brick home also built in the 30's. I started off at the small brick home.
10 minutes in and I had a Wheat and a War nickel. There weren't very many targets in this yard. Almost like it had been hunted before.
I headed to the Bed&Breakfast and hunted the rest of the time. Super huge yard . Really surprised how deep the coins were with this one. Found the usual clad around 4 to 5". Most of the Wheats and older stuff was 6 to 8" deep. Pulled 2 Wheats at about 9". This detector is getting through the iron pretty Good!! Wheats-1945D,1942D,1944,1951D,1913D,1928,1953D,
1951D,1952S,1944,1944,1940,1912
Anyway I may go once more before We head back, not sure. Thanks for looking &
Happy Hunting!!!!!

That is a very nice QianLong coin and it has a bit of a mystery regarding its origins.

First off, it was not minted during the time of the QianLong emperor but minted at a much later date.

Secondly, it may have been minted in the United States for the 1915 San Fransisco fair as a commemorative coin. Or at a Chinatown in the west.

Or a commemorative coin for the St. Louis World's Fair of 1904 because 1904 was the year of the dragon and the coin has a dragon on it. (Mostly likely origin my guess)

Thirdly, it could have been minted by the triads in the US during the final years of the Qing Dynasty. (hence the triangle hole) But that sounds like a movie plot urban myth.

Here is one of the Chinese articles explaining some of the theories.

Here is a link to an english language webpage about the coin.. adding more dates it could have been minted.
