Well finds like this are very few and far between, some may even say “Once in a Lifetime”. Was at a early 1800s site today that I had spent a few hours at prior. This lady was on edge at 6+ inches but came in clean. 1832 Capped Bust Quarter.
(Flawless condition)

Congratulations on achieving your first BANNER find Sir! :hello2:
Any thoughts about getting it slabbed and graded?
Dave
Yes the thought has crossed my mind, never sent anything away to be graded, any recommendations?

As absolutely stunning as it is, I would think hard before spending the money to have it slabbed. It could very well come back in the dreaded "details" slab instead of graded. There is a little scuff on the rim at the right side obverse and some scattered light pits. Just the movement of the soil over the years will cause tiny microscopic rubbing that the grading companies may call cleaning. I would put it in a high quality holder to protect it and keep as is.

Neither have I my friend, but when you're dealing with a very clean looking US coin that's 190 years old, I'd much rather have it preserved and graded for future generations. This way you'll always know exactly what the condition is and if you ever decide to sell it, you can expect to get a fair price for it.

Hello, I see you use the Nox 800 and the White V3i...just curious as to what machine you used to detect that beauty...and did it ring up 85-90 on the White ? Great post and pictures

Hello, you make a great point. Recently I sent in a 1914D penny that I dug around Omaha to a grading company. I knew they were a bit high brow, but they would not even grade it due to its green appearance from being in the ground so long. Even though IMHO it has VF details. I think the graders may look down on dug coins as beneath them lol, no pun intended.

I was using the nox 800. Being it was on edge it came in at 23-25. A little jumpy but it repeated in both directions (clean)
