I found this, what I believe to be half of a button. It was found in front of a house built in early 1700's . It is 1-1/8 inches, and silver in color. It cleaned up nice so I'm not sure of the age. The eagle has a different look than others I've seen online. It almost looks like a chicken to me. I'm only counting 12 stars if that helps anyone. Thanks in advance.

Not sure. There is what people call a chicken eagle with a long neck. I’ve mainly seen them facing the other direction though. The chicken eagle was more common after civil war, during the Indian Wars. I’ve never ran across this one. Interesting. If I find any info I’ll post back.

Agree on fashion button. It doesn’t match any military buttons. Thanks
