New here because I wanted to share what we found yesterday. I haven't seen any photos of grinding tools quite like this one with the bumps on the end, maybe it's something different? Found in the same area as this half arrowhead. Has anyone seen anything like this?

Never seen a pestle quite like that one either. May have a specialized use. Is the arrowhead petrified wood.?

Thanks Dennis. I first thought you were joking with that "salmon packer" comment. :laughing7: I have never heard of that! I Googled it of course and saw some examples. Some of them remind me of the only pestle I've found here in Alabama. Will you elaborate on the details of it's use?

They were used to pound salmon to process to dry? also for pounding roots and berries.

you found this where? PNW is well known for phallic pestles, and anamorphic ones too...could be a bear?
