Was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this. I just bought a new Minelab Explorer SE and when I first bought it, it would always update on any new targets instantly on the Smartfind or ID screen. A silver dime would show 00|29 then I would scan a nickel and it would immediately show 10|05. Now when I am detecting, the detector shows random numbers and does not update the smartfind or ID screens between targets. For example when I scan a Silver Dime it might or might not show 00|29 and if it eventually does, the numbers will not update or change when I scan a Nickel or anything else. What's weird though is that the sounds are still very accurate. I know the sound of silver coins and wheatbacks and nickels so I can pinpoint with no problems and dig these coins all day long (Just based on their sounds) . . . I just can't rely on the Smartfind or ID screens. So essentially I have an SE with no screen!

I am just thinking about sending it in for service but I wanted to make sure it's not a known issue with an easy fix or a setting. I highly doubt it's a setting because I have become very familiar with the settings and use the same settings as most of the successful SE users on Tnet.

Any info would be sincerely appreciated!

Thanks and HH, Mark :icon_pirat:

Sounds like you got a ..Sovereign...in a Explorer body....

I'm not sure about the Minelab, but most machines has a reset back to factory defaults..I'm sure you have already tried that route?

Thank You!! For whatever reason a factory reset worked. Even though I set all of the settings back to what they were, it now works fine. I really appreciate it  I have a very high IQ but my wife tells me that I sometimes lack common sense :tongue3:

yep, and I guarantee many users who are new don't realize the small glitches and detect through it. I've hunted with two who had detectors that were well out of wack, it's all they knew so did not suspect anything was wrong. Maybe these are getting a little too close to computers.

Glad it worked for you. Sometimes it is the simplest things that work...and I'm kinda simple minded so I got a jump on some..lol Now I'm gonna be waiting to see some great finds.
