The stuff in the black case/box has been found over the past 2 weeks. There's an item above the old hinge, it's shaped kind of like a nail file. It has a measuring scale from 1 to 6 on it, but it's NOT inches. I have no idea what it is. Also, the nice hooped piece of brass above the buckles and below the bell, no clue what that is either.

The stuff on the white paper towel I dug today. Those two items above the large cents, I have no idea what they are either.

I gotta get back out there SOON. I researched, and discovered this old site that is long gone. It's all open field. That's where today's stuff was found. The civil war stuff was from another site on the same farm, and the coins are, well, as y'all know, mostly scattered about the fields.

I was out on the field today for a couple hours. Playing in the mud. I stumbled across another little civil war site, I'll have to go back and hit it hard to see what all is laying in there. It was toward the end of my "shift" and I was getting tired.....and cold.

That little gizmo that looks like a loop from the handle of a pair of scissors, well, I don't think it is. It doesn't appear to be broken where that 'nub' sticks out.

And of course, there would be a '65 Canadian penny laying out there all by itself.....

That is a fantastic site!. I might be tempted to camp out there and hunt until my arm falls off. Keep us up to date on your future discoveries.
Oh I've been hammerin' the entire farm. I'm not certain the size, but I'd guess 150 acres or so. It takes time to canvass the ground.

I use https://guides.libraries.psu.edu/c.php?g=327824&p=2257708 for research, along with https://www.historicaerials.com/.

I study the old maps, and reference current satellite imagery etc. Then I go on out and start swingin'.

Yeah, my arm's already wore out. I'm 62 yrs. young, and good for swingin' about 3 hours, maybe 4, before my senses return :)
