Got invited to join up with Gigmaster and Jon Boy at one of his permissions. We hit a couple different fields that day but ended up at one Gigmaster had hunted before with good results. The location used to have a house on it but was just field now. We were not there long before a few buttons came out and Gig got a beautiful 1/2 dime. Nice coin in good shape! That was his second silver for the day (and he bagged a 3rd later on) and Jon Boy and I were getting some cool stuff, buttons wheat pennies and aluminum, ALOT of aluminum, can slaw everywhere.....
I was working between the corn stubble and got a nice solid hit (19 on the equinox). I figured it was more aluminum, probably a good sized piece but I could not have been more wrong! After a couple scoops out of the dirt I saw something yellow and froze for a second...no way right? I gave it a little poke with my finger to get a better look and confirm what I THOUGHT it was and it WAS! Nice gold ring just sitting there! I got back up and called them over, Gig kept asking what it was and I just pointed at the ground, I still couldn't believe it! Gig got some good video that day you can see it here:
The ring looks more modern, no marks other than the 14K and a makers mark of a "D" inside of a diamond, weight was 6.2 grams. Nice score for a farm field hunt! We get plenty of gold rings on the beaches in Virginia but gold is always a welcome surprise in a relic hunt! Thanks for looking and thanks to Gig and Jon Boy for bringing me along!
