Hi All, I have been out of touch in the last few months. Havn't done much hunting this year been under the weather. I found out in August that I Have Larangeal Cancer. I started the Chemo/Radiation on 9/8. It's going to be a battle but I will win It. I felt good on Sunday and I was able to obtain permission to search an 1886 homesite. I found a Millard Fillmore Token at 7". Any one have any Ideas. I will keep you all as up to date as I can on my health and finds. Catsman ( Rex )

I remember something like that when I was a kid. The tokens may have been issued by Shell oil, but again I'm not sure.
I also had little plastic figures of all of the presidents standing on a styrofoam set that represented the steps of Congress.
Those were isuued by Jewel food stores from what I remember.

Sorry to hear about your health issues. Keep up the positive attitude because that's half the battle.

Dug a few myself, believe that they are Cracker Jack coins(?) Then again, i could be wrong.

I don't think it's a Shell or Cracker Jack token. The only examples I've seen of those were made of aluminum and were both clearly labelled as to their source. There are a number of this type of token selling on Ebay, but no one is identifying a source.

I found a similar one for Coolidge a few months back. I found mine in a location where the finds beneath the surface layer were mainly from the '30s-'50s. IIRC, it's the one I found that had a company name on it and, when contacted, they said they were made for most of the last century in different variations for different distributions and that there wasn't a good way to date it. But I could be getting it mixed up with something else or yours might be different. Either way, nice find!

Hey, Catsman....I have one identical to yours that I dug years ago. I believe it was part of a complete set from one of the oil companies, given out when purchasing gas in the 60's. I also have a few others with different presidents on them that are identical in design, and part of the same promotion.

Hey Catsman, keep up the fight. You WILL win it. I won my battle 10 years after my wife won her battle. We are living proof that you can be a survivor! Get well and keep on hunting, it will bring your spirits up and that is half the battle. Nice digs by the way. I found a few of those tokens as well. Goodluck and stay in touch here....jgas

Glad that you were able to get out and hunt. I just found a Polk commemorative copper token today Is yours made of copper? About the size of a quarter? Ribbed edges? No idea on the age. Looked on the web and could only find that there have been quite a few series of these type coins minted.

Thanks all for the support and help with ID. I have found one the same on E-Bay for 4.00. Not much but it's something. HH to all Catsman.

In regards to the token, They are in fact from shell oil. I myself as a kid remember collecting them and putting them in a book that the gas station would provide. I have several of many of the presidents. Still fun to collect and an exciting find in my opinion. God be with you.

dont say hate very often but i do hate cancer you can beat it :)
