Looking forward to it.
I'll provide the 5-gallon buckets for the porta-potties. Just kidding.
(But I will spring for a pair of Porta-potties again.)

I still have the posters and some other nautical items for the auction or as door prizes if they are wanted.

Let me know.

Hey Capn Bill -
You didn't mention a seminar when I stopped by last week. Lagoon House again?

Count me in.

And I know a couple of guys who can give a presentation on how to turn a salvage boat into a pile of ashes.

I detect the history: I've visited archives up & down the entire US East Coast, Bahamas, Jamaica, Kew, The Hague, etc. Have yet to go to Seville or S.American archives.

I just hope I have a room. Reserved it on March 24. They sent me an email confirmation listing the reservation for March 29, 30. It took 3 calls to get it right. Then on March 29 they called me and asked "why aren't you here." Anyone else have this problem?

i will be under going surgery on the 20th ( to clear out my artery of my left leg )--as well as having to have my home repaired from a bad storm flooding it -- 2 foot of dry wall and all the carpeting in the house --so i'm up to my butt in alligators so to speak --so it look like none of my famous sausage cream cheese ball this year sadly

Howdy folks!
John and I were talking this morning about how many people might be at the Cookout. We hope that it's a lot.
We will be starting at about 12 as per usual. I'll be cooking a few ribs, probably about the 150 lbs I did last year. We will have burgers and hot dogs and other good stuff cooked to perfection as well as the sides and desserts usually brought by attendees.
We will have a 20x50 tent to provide some more shade from the sun or the rain.
We will have seating for about 300 people, but I was only able to secure 112 chairs, so it might be good to bring one if you can. DONATIONS ARE APPRECIATED!! and NEEDED!
The auction has got some AWESOME items in it, particularly Gary Penta's miniatures. Proceeds to to the Cookout and to the Michael Abt Jr Have a Heart Foundation honoring Taffi and Michael's son, also Nichole, Josh and Melvin's brother.

Sunday we will have the 2nd Treasure Coast Treasure Diver Seminar at the exact same spot!
We'll start at about 930 and go til 4 with a lunch break.
Speakers so far are:
Robert Westrick, archaeologist, diver and treasure finder
Bob Sharp - DAN first aid instructor, caver, etc. will do a presentation on boat and diving first aid
One boat captain, one underwater detecting ninja and a question and answer session and I'll say a few words at some time about something.
Come on down and join us!!

Sunday, May 1, the day after the Cookout, I'll be putting on the 2nd Treasure Diver's Seminar. This will be on the same grounds at the Pennwood Motor Lodge.
We will be getting started at 930 AM and should wrap it up at about 4 PM. (ish)
Speakers include:
Richard Sites - Treasure salvage of the Maravilla 1974 and other topics.
Rob Westrick - Archaeologist and wreck salvor extraordinaire!
Captain Mike Penninger will give us some insight on dig boat operation, management and safety.
Bob Sharp is a DAN instructor and will be addressing the particular sorts of accidents and incidents that can occur on a dig boat and how to deal with them and provide first aid.
Captain Josh Fisher Abt - Josh will be discussing boat and metal detecting operations.
I (Bill Black) will talk at the opening of the festivities.
I hope to have one more speaker to round out the day, hopefully about artifact preservation and conservation.
Question and answer session if time allows.
$30 admission. If you can't afford the admission, then we'll figure out something. :) I'd like everyone to be able to attend. If you feel like making a donation over and above, it will go toward being able to do the Symposium in the fall.
I look forward to seeing as many folks attend as possible. It'll be a very interesting program, I believe.
Thanks and I'll see you this weekend!!!

Those attending the cookout this Sat. will get another bonus. The air show is going to be happening at the airport, so there will be sure to be some residual "maneuvering aircraft" sightings, window-rattling, and/or sonic booms. (Blue Angels are always a favorite.) Those folks living nearby will get to see the different planes practicing in the skies overhead from now till Sat.

I hope to see lots of you there and looking forward to the auction also.

Big thanks to Bill (Ropesfish) and John (Aquanut) in advance for making the cookout a reality again. Looking forward to tasting all the delicious dishes everyone brings.

I'm glad to help. It's minimal for all the enjoyment everyone gets from this great time.

BTW- This was happening today. Others may have seen them.
Special Thanks to Craig @ ECL for sharing these.

Sorry, I couldn't attend, I had a wedding to attend that day that was set before the picnic date was picked.
