Just got my Bounty Hunter 4, (Hobby Lobby) with 40 percent off!
Thanks for tip!

Wanted to see how much fun I would have with a new hobby. I need a new hobby.

Went to local playground for about 30 minutes, found 4 penny's!

Ok Ok, I know that it isn't a fortune, but I found something!

This may turn out to be what I was looking for. Getting cold and snow now, gonna make a list of sites I can into in March.

Welcome to the forum and hobby. Most of us in the North spend are winters researching for the next year. This year seems to be an exception. Nice job on the 4 cents on your first outting

Welcome to Tnet. The more you swing, the more you find. I recommend you throw some loose change on the ground and maybe a bottle cap and pull tab. Get to know how each sounds. Old pennies will ring in like silver and new ones will ring in lower since they are zinc. Dig all zinc tones if you want to find any indian head pennies.

If you where looking for a new hobby, you've found a good one. And a great site to share and learn. Welcome aboard.[emoji482]

Welcome to the hobby and TNet...this is your only warning.."once you check in, you can never check out". Congrats on your first hunt. Take Loco's advice, learn the sounds of your machine. There is a whole lot of firsts for you to find, good luck!

Congrats! I'm in Iowa as well. Curious where you're at in Iowa.

Just curious on how did you know the OP is in Iowa?

Welcome to the forum and to the hobby, digging something the first time out is alright, and researching and asking for a few permissions along the way is the way to go. HH

Marshalltown, Iowa is under his name.

4 coins on day one, you know what you're doing.

Good luck out there.

Welcome "Mojos working". I am familiar with Iowa and somewhat with Marshalltown.

Welcome to the forum. Learn your detector, research old places in Winter = find really old cool stuff in Spring, Summer & Fall !!

Research DEEDS OF REGISTARS and your library then google earth . Welcome to the sickness hahahah!

I lived in Iowa and in high school I did a book report on the geology of the state. I recall the book told of the economic mining resources, such as lead and coal mining of the state. Many of these old mining communities are all but gone now. One town was a very productive coal mine town know as Buxton, Iowa and it mentioned it was a town of mostly black coal miners, and I think the town is like hardly anything now. I got an A on that reports and that was pretty good for a riff-raff like me the teacher thought. She was very proud that a screw-up like me chose such and interesting subject to do a "book on Iowa history" report. Get in to the books of the history of your area on these cold winter nights and start piecing together some ideas on where to explore come spring. I'm sure Iowa is loaded with lost treasures here and there.

Welcome and prepare yourself.....this hobby is the most addictive thing I've ever done. Just wait until you find your first old item or coin, you'll be seriously hooked. Good luck with the finds!

Welcome to the most wonderful hobby you can ever imagine. Addiction is just the beginning of this obsession. Good Luck and Happy Hunting!
