First hunt of the old House

We finally had some time to do a little hunting. We went to the old house/shed/barn that I previously posted about and found some pretty neat stuff but nothing too old. The most interesting part of the day for me was going down to the creek and finding some fossils and weird rocks (geodes maybe :dontknow:) We'll be going back soon.

Neat finds! I'd be detecting around that creek, might be all kinds of goodies there

We went back today and Coinfucius found a little silver ring and an 1891 IH penny. We didn't get to hunt much because the owner showed up and wanted to chat about the things we find when we metal detect. He was just fascinated by the "modern technology" of the machines. When we presented him with the penny he was absolutely thrilled. He said he had one years ago but dropped in it a parking meter by accident. He couldn't believe it when we insisted he keep the penny, it really made him happy. He's 80 years old and he bought the property in 1954 for 1,400 dollars. He and his wife lived in that place for 5 years until they built the house up the road. He said he's trying to line up other places we can hunt because he knows a lot of "folk" Of course all his friends are dead, he says, but he still knows folks. I could listen to his stories all day. He is just the sweetest old guy.
