I found this mano on a gravel bar in southwest Missouri. It cleaned up really nice. It’s my first large N/A artifact.

A mano (meaning hand) is the stone used with a metate to grind seeds and things into powder or meal.

Doesn't look like manos I'm familiar with, but different parts of the country had different styles. Is that flat side the wear side?

It has shaping ground surfaces on the top and sides (pic 5,7), but it is ground flat on the bottom with a slight bow from use. You can see the scour lines forming slight arcs in the bottom from a twisting motion (pic 1,2,8). It also has some crushing damage on the large end as well.
