First time finding Indian pottery?

Found by the river! i was digging a signal when i flopped a piece out and wih further digging this is all I found but I do believe its my first indian pottery
any info would be amazing!!
does anyone know about the things to look for in the PNW?

I also live in spokane!! However I am new to both the area and treasure hunting so I can not give much guidance.
Very cool find! If its native, thats about as old as a find can get in our area!

Doesn't look like the typical Native pottery if seen, seems too fine to me.

The last photo shows the rim of the pot/container. Looking at stock images most Indigenous pottery is flared outward or doesn't have the lip at all.
If I dug this I'd be thinking an old flower pot, or storage pot as the lip edge shows a raised outer rim to hold a lid.
It looks just to heavy, manufactured look, as the 2 fine lines on the inner part of the lip also indicates that.
Just my thoughts on your find.

Nice!!! Congrats!!! The Native pottery I've found in Missouri is a lot different than that. In the edges You can actually see the tiny pieces of flint and the burn. The edges on these pieces look prepared too clean. I've been wrong before though....

I see no tempering material at the breaks and it is a little too refined as Cru said.....

That is more than likely an old crock and not NA pottery but with that being said you could be close to some old pioneer type of settlement and you may find some good items close by.

You should see pieces of shells, pebbles, grass etc in the clay, used for tempering to strengthen the clay, I see nothing in the pictures. Looks more like on old crock.

Can't say, it has been in every piece of native America pottery I have found or seen but that doesnt mean it's in all. Sometimes they used coarse sand too, I left that out of my post..
