Nice!

That one is a 1972 Browning Explorer 64", 52@28 (I draw 1/4" shy of 30). I've got about a dozen of the old classic one-piece recurves from the 1960's and 70's. This year I'm hunting with a mid-60's Wing (Bob Lee) Red Wing Hunter.

I can just squeek out a 20 yard shot in my basement and practice [almost] daily.

I have a Dick Palmer Hunter longbow (72") that has a Hill style grip and I never got so I liked shooting it. I have girly wrists and the high-grip recurve I just shoot much better.

When you're out in the fields and woods this fall you may come across some Cress . It's a true survival food loaded with nutrition .
it has a peppery taste like mustard greens. I found a nice cluster and will have them with my dinner. 20201109_143108.jpg

man, that sounds great, I'm just up to 5 kinds up until now, staying with the simple ones. On the off chance that lone I had the information on the American Indians that once meandered this land, all a man requires is to eat well and be well is directly under our feet.

More food from the forest , we went fishing today, caught some Crappie and my girlfriend found this very nice lions mane mushroom.
a wonderful tasting mushroom even if you hate mushrooms you might just love this one. these also some amazing health benefits for brain function.
if you suffer from dementia, depression , stress and anxiety look into this. you can also get it in a capsule if wild food foraging isn't your thing.
This bad boy is at least 5lbs and we already ate about 1/2 a pound. 20201122_103120_HDR.jpg

I've not found any chicken or hen of the woods here yet . I found an indigo milk cap during the summer , that was an odd mushroom with just an ok taste.
I'm fascinated with the studies that suggest the lions main to help with dementia and other mental issues . and I think it has to be one of the best tasting mushrooms I've ever ate.

I found 2 smaller Lions Mane and they are great as well....bear tooth / comb tooth is in the same family as lions mane and they both have that awsome crab meat like taste....plus no poisonous look-a-likes for either one.

Being self taught on wild edibles I try to stay away from anything with a poisonous look alike too. I agree on the great taste, better than anything store bought.

I will pick morels when I see them. We have a lot of pycolocobin that comes up in the cow fields against the mountain during turkey season and we catch a girl in there picking it all the time. ...

I'm not allowed to eat psilocybin. Mom said.

Took a buck last Saturday. I pick morels out of the woods and then asparagus out of the ditches soon after.

Oh right, and ducks. I like duck. Pluck 'em like fuirt fresh from the sky.

Roadside ditches? Beware of roadside asparagus and toxins. They spray the ditches here in the country and the pollution buildup from years of auto traffic can’t be healthy. I see folks picking from time to time but should be avoided.

yes toxins are a real concern even in wild foods. you couldn't pay me to eat ducks near an urban area , here's why. I worked at a waste water sewage plant for many years. In the winter the sewage tanks and ponds would be full of ducks once the sun was up , they swam around eating corn most of the day and would head back to the Potomac river in the late afternoon . soon after they would leave you'd here the sounds of shotguns on the river. I bet those birds tasted like CRAP.

Yes. That’s another reason why I take only one large snapping turtle every other year, toxic build up in those old reptiles. If it weren’t for my heavenly Cajun turtle soup, I’d avoid them completely.

Do mushrooms have nutritional value? More than others?
Thanks
