Found this today. I have looked online trying to find a match but no luck yet. It's smashed, so I don't know if that will make the ID harder. It's about the size of a nickel.

Thanks for the help.

Wow! I was not expecting that! I appreciate the help with ID.

I hate it's smashed, but I guess finding a smashed one is better than not finding it at all. At least it wasn't me that damaged it this time. :laughing7:

I found it at an new elementary school where there used to be an old home site.

Thanks again for the help!

Was this button likely used by Confederate forces from Louisiana during the Civil War?

Thanks man! I don't have a lot of CW relics but I'm slowly building my collection. I'd love to put together a nice display at some point.

Based on the excitement from this other recent post you have a great button find. Yours looks a little different but similar. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/today-s-finds/597601-white-whale-cw-buttons-louisiana-boy.html

I read that thread! His is in much better shape too. I did some research and some with the same front as mine have different backs, so I don't know what's really rare and what isn't. Appears to be several makers and varieties. I'm not sure if it's rare, but i'm happy to have it!

Heck, that’s 4 pelican buttons in the last two months I’ve seen on this site.

I know! They must not be as rare as people think. :laughing7: Just kidding!
