Found at civil war farm, cast iron lids or doors , strong box????

What was these cast iron lids used for, we found 5 different kinds of flat cast iron lids or doors and one has a pin with it. So it has to be a door of some kind. We found pad locks and thought these could be strong boxes or shipping containers for money. I think they are to thin for stove doors . Any info would be good . Thank You

have you looked into not wood stoves like for heating but wood stoves/ovens for cooking?

Yes, he got it. Its part to an old wood stove from a CW camp.

IMG_20200729_151213.jpg IMG_20200729_151316.jpg This plate is 1/4" thick IMG_20200729_151417.jpg the other 4 are only 1/8" thick cast iron. If they are from a stove is that thick enough to hold heat and why so many at one site , we believe there are a lot more.

Strong boxes would never be made of such thin, brittle type of metal. They are most likely cooking stove metal as stated before.

Hay I would like to thank every one for their info, I spent many hours looking at cast iron objects and CW camp stove is one I did not look at . Thank You
