Found heavy emblem, help identify

First time on the forum, so hello all.
I recently gained access to a property where a fort was established in 1783 and amongst the items, here are a few in question:




Sorry, not used to uploading photos. The one I am most curious about is the large triangular piece, it weighs a good 6lbs or more.
And the button too, although in rough shape, any id?

Well, even though we tend to avoid iron I think it is a neat find. I'll try to post the other finds and a clearer picture of the button. Thank you.

It's called a flat iron; and its weight classifies it as a 'sad' iron. “Sad” is an Old English word for “solid,” and the term “sad iron” is often used to distinguish the largest and heaviest of flat irons, usually 5 to 9 pounds.

The button is a US General Service button worn by enlisted men from 1854 through 1902. I can't tell which type you have. Does it have a back mark that you can read? What is the size of the button in mm?
