It is a George E. Bissell statuette. I don't find any in sterling but lots of bronze ones on the net.

I found one in silver on eBay, but the base and markings are different.
The silver marks for Gorham can be dated:

It appears companies can take Bissell's bronze statues and recast.
are there other marks on this anywhere?

I don't know what you paid for it, but if you want to get rid of it, I'll double your money.....

Awesome! I have 2 of them actually, they seem to be book ends. I just wonder what they would be valued at. The bronze one’s go for $4000! Could only imagine sterling.
