I have had this 2500 for a little over a year and this is the second time it quit on me. This time the thing puts out a loud hum, won't take the programing signals and the voice won't let me shut off the surface elimination. It just keeps saying inches, inches, inches, inches! Also won't even pick up a coin just tossed on the ground. Don't know what the deal is but thank goodness it is still under warranty. Sent it in yesterday so let's see what Garrett does and how long it takes me to get it back. Last time UPS broke off the control head in shipping! I always go USPS, less expensive and better delivery. Monty

I got my GTI 2500 back yesterday afternoon late. This time it was packed in a good strong box and wasn't damaged by UPS. Turnaround time was only 9 days! And that is fast considering it had about 4 days in shipping. They replaced the battery pack and recalibrated everything. Looks like I wasn't getting tood contact from the battery, but I didn't notice that anything was broken before I sent it in. Must have been a hairline fracture or something? I reassembled it and fired it up and it seems to run perfectly now. One thing I can say about Garrett service, it is speedy! I haven't been able to give it a test yet to be sure because we have about two inchess of freezing rain with sleet on top of it right now. I know, I'm getting soft in my old age. :D This is the second winter storm we have had this year and the outside temp is 18 right now. By next Friday it's supposed to be back up to 60. Go figure. Anyway, I am really pleased with Garrett's service. Still under warranty and no charge. But I was out about ten bucks for shipping one way. Service is important and something to remember when buying a new detector. Monty

glad to hear you are back in business.

My Garrett GTI 1500 went crazy on me this week it keeps running through every thing and keeps flashing on and off. It goes back in the morning that makes the second time this year ....................................... ==Jim==

Other than the ACE 250, I think Garrett is pretty much old school. I look for some upgrades before too long if they want to stay competative. I haven't had any more trouble with mine since I replaced the main coil about 4 months ago. The wire pulled out of the coil and they can't reattach it or so they say. I am looking at going to Whites or Minelab on my next purchase. Monty
