How many of you feel this is just a way to sell electric cars to us ?
I saw on the news yesterday that there will be rolling blackouts this summer because the power companies won't be able to meet demand and now they want to add millions of charging stations for the electric cars?
Gas here in south Georgia at Sam's club was $3.88.9 this morning. It would be about $4.18.9 but our govenor has temporarily halted the state gas tax.

Not too long in the future, electric vehicles will become the bane of
existence for those promoting them now.

The materials needed for those batteries come from the ground, and
once mined of it's lithium and nickel, the soil becomes unsuitable for
farming. The Eco Warriors are going nuts over every new lithium mine
application applied for.

Some of you will remember back when engines weren't built to the
high tolerances they are today, and when a engine got to 65k-75k
miles, it was time for a rebuild.

Same goes for these batteries...but they cost a hellofa lot more than
it does to rebuild a small block chevy.

Recycling the old battery is also an issue:

Whether or not it's fifty years, or five hundred years, the world is going
to run out of oil..I just hope something better than battery cars comes
along.

Don't worry, the nuclear energy has already been made "green" in EU, after Putin uses a few nukes the nuclear waste problem will no longer be an issue. You should always look things from the positive side.

AAA will bring a Very Long Extension Cord.

Oil is infinite (I think I spelled that Right) :tongue3:
Yes, It took Billions of years to get just Right, But
it Didn't Just Stop getting Just right. Also Just like Oceans,
I'm sure there are Oceans of Oil Underground.
There are also Billions of Plastics in Landfills and Etc.
which can be Re-dug & Re-made into Oil by those who Know how. Old Tires are also Oil Based.
there are most likely other items .
just like Dr emmett brown needed 1.21 gigawatts, to go Back to the Future, there is a Hint there where at the end of #1,
he grabbed some trash and threw it in under the Hood for Power (Not totally Fantasy) Make the Fuel from Plastic & rubber. And Make a Gallon of Gas Last for 100, 200, Maybe even 500 Miles & Eventually maybe make the Car Produce it's own Gas through Plastic or rubber :dontknow: a Genius may even be working on it

I just drove 910 miles first of the week out to western Colorado and back. Did have to pay over 5 a gal. at one point. I drive a 2017 Dodge Ram like an old putz. It's got a 5.7 hemi with an 8 speed auto, so going up the steep mountain passes it doesn’t step down so low in gear and I only ease in to the throttle ever so lightly. Going down hill I coast as far as possible. At the end of the trip it went through $130+ in fuel with more gallons to spare. I overall averaged 25.5 mpg. Tomorrow I'm headed to Iowa, so hopefully that just under 70 mph sweet spot will spare me the high expense of getting there across the flat lands. I will put the tailgate down as that really does reduce some drag. I did notice a it seems there was a bit less tourist traffic this time of year in the mountains, but it was just after memorial weekend, so maybe they all couldn't afford to stay any extra days.?

I would write a pertinent reply but this is not a political thread so I must refrain.

the sad part, the less oil & gas is used the Higher Prices for gas & oil will go in order for the industry to register record profits
at the end of each year for their stock holders.

also the more fuel costs, the higher wages go.
the higher wages go, the higher products go.
the higher wages and products go.
the higher fuel costs go.

it's a Vicious Circle both, You know who, and the oil Producers have both Caused with their fight. unfortunately the Oil Producers & the ones who are Our Enemies ,
Will Never take a Loss to Drop Oil back Down.
and Drilling Parts and Wages won't Drop at these Prices

Beeing a chemist, i can confirm gasoline can be produced fairly well from other sources. At the end of WWII Germans ware makeing it from coal, the process is known as Fischer - Tropsch process. But that is not a problem, the problem is the crude oil from mother earth is still the chippest possible raw material.
If you look at the price composition of your gas price, you might find out the real gas price is less than 10% of what is payed for, all the rest are taxes...
Transfering that to electric cars, you might get a power bill so high most of us will only be able to affort the RC car on two AAs. So if governments will not be willing to give away a golden cow like this, what would be the substitute? Water perhaps?
