I decided to hunt a party spot on the lake today here in Southwest Georgia. The water level is low and a lot of the beach is now exposed. About the fourth target in , I pulled something I didn't think I'd ever dig. I've been metal detecting since 1977 and have found several gold rings but never a gold coin. That changed this morning! I hunted for the chain but, was unable to locate it.

If my Roman number math is correct, it’s 1999
Awesome find and congratulations on making the Banner!!

Just an FYI, it has to be dated before 1999, they only use Roman Numerals on the $10 Gold Eagle Bullion coins from 1986 to 1991, from 1992 to 2021 type 1 coins they had regular date numbers on them, the coin changed again midway in 2021 to the type 2 which has a different eagle on the back.

Thanks Gare - I found it with an Equinox 800. It was down about three inches in the sand.

I just started metal detecting and amazing finds like yours give me hope that I will recover something besides foil and bottle caps some day! Congratulations!

Congratulations on that find. I finally found the post. I’ve tried before but just got tired of pulling Coke tabs 😃
