Finally got to get down to the beach for a long awaited hunt, when the day started I should have known it was going to be a good one. Easy parking and there was a strange hazy sky which broke into a beautiful sunny day. Hunted all day with the WOT and in reverse discrimination mode, feeling discouraged by the beach being sanded in but happy to be out on the beach I took a long stroll checking and digging every target that sounded positive. After tons of pull tabs pops out some yellow! Gold grills, the second pair to date, and nothing less then 16k in the mouth. Continuing on and at the point of the beach where I'm about ready to call it a day and out pops a heavily encrusted oddly shaped coin.
The question is...is it a real reale. Soaking it for gentle cleaning. Hoping it's real but I have my doubts. The telltale word, "COPY" is not evident, but the amount of corrosion makes me think you will find the word eventually. A grill is a crazy find, which I have found myself. But Gold is Gold, nice going. Who wears a grill anyway?? Do some people really think gold teeth are sexy or something??

Good work on the finds and finally getting out there since the move! Just a little word of caution on the grill....not saying yours is one of them but you can get grillz in just about any gold configuration you want.... I have had them plated, 10k, 16k and 22k..... just depends on the amount of green the person has in their pocket I guess.... yours looks real nice and should be a better k value. Set I got last year was a ladies set and each tooth had an imbedded CZ....but the gold was good!
Good work and good luck on the Reale, hope it is the real thing!

Well what's the story with the cob?
I'd be real surprised if its authentic the beach conditions right now are not good at all for finding anything old but I guess there's always a chance.

From what I can see of the edge it doesn't look quite right a friend of mine on the same stretch of coast just recently found a replica it looks a lot like what you have there... His was all corroded also.. I told him to throw it in some white vinegar and that's the result

To be honest it's not looking good and my electrolysis kit is missing since the move. Going to have to get some more white vinegar and give that a try. Just been soaking it and toothbrush ing it as I pass by. I think it's going to be a replica from what I can see but it'll be cool to have.... Woops! Almost said just the same. Lost hope for it and will get back on it.
Thanks for the pointer. At least the grills are real.

Nice finds! One wonders if both grill finds might be from the same person a few years apart and they just couldn't keep their' mouth shut??!!:laughing7:

Lol! Not likely being that these 2 beaches are about a hour and a half apart on the highway. And found about 2 years apart. Funny theory!
