I've been hunting that same field for 11 years. It's one of the few places I can actually dig the dirt (it's been very dry). MM's comment refers to all the Mexicans that use the field.

They use it ALL the time! (Non there today). I was on my third pass of a sideways grid pulling every signal when I got the gold earing. I was getting tired, but that encouraged me to keep going and two beeps later the ring popped out.

I have no idea what kind of stone it is, but it's clear when you hold it up to the light and look through.

It's a tiny ring, but it feels good because the tone was a pure pull tab. Dig everything and go back to those old sites that produce!
