Nice. I have a few gold wedding bands but no clue on who may have lost them.

You probably have far more than me. Gold Rings of any date are a very rare find for us.

I'm very glad it's his, I'm not that interested in Rings & have given away or sold one (I couldn't afford to keep & split the money with owner). So, I saw it as an unusual find but scrap metal, nothing more.(bearing in mind, I never sell anything as a rule)

Excellent Cru, I'm sure he was very happy getting his ring back. Hopefully his wife hasn't been holding this over his head for the past 15 years.

What did he think of the gold coin? Was he cool with letting you keep it as a reward for your good deed?

Which one?
Jeff normally doesn't give them without proof (picture of me handing to farmer). No way I'm asking the owner to do that, it would expose us both to unwanted attention.
I'm just happy I could add another great story to our detecting career. The ring meant nothing to me, & everything to him, easy choice/no brainer in my eyes.

I think it should still be honorable mention with out a pic?? You've got 23 banner finds and have helped countless people on this site, they're exceptions to the rule?
Congrats on the return and being a stand up guy!!

He had already taken less than 50% melt value for us to keep it.

Also saw his son today who had heard of the return of the ring. To me & probably to him, it needs no reward, other than its own value as a great true story.

PS. Having met the wife, I don't think she was mad for long.

Thanks for the kind words. I think I recently saw such an exception.

I kind of hope I don't get it, it's kind of a running joke with me.:laughing9:

I put a vote in. Not everyone like to see his face in the internet, so no reason to deny a Honorable Mention. :occasion14:

Thanks for all the votes & thanks to the Tnet staff who sorted it.

If I wasn't so poor, I would get my Chartered Membership back. But every penny counts right now, maybe later.......
