It came up 64. I run 8 khz and id norm off. I had dug several shotgun shells that day that read the same numbers.

That's very interesting... I usually dial my program down to 12lhz and will lower the disc to '0', this way I hear everything, depending on the soil conditions on the site of course.

Last year I returned to a site a number of times that was dug by archeologists 2 years ago, but I usually end up very frustrated by the amount of iron that's been churned up. I detected this site for almost 4 years prior to the arkies showing up, the site is now slated for residential development. Here in Ontario it's mandatory by law that an archeological assessment must be done prior to any type of land development. I'm always willing to try different settings if it will help 'clear out' some of the iron signals and help me hear the non-ferrous better. I've made some very cool finds here since the arkies left and I just know there's still more yet to be found!

Here are a couple of pics of the site before and during the arkie dig.
Dave

Dude, if I found a coin like that I'd raise my shovel to the sky and scream like King Leonidas fighting the Persians.

Calm down my ass.

Man, thatโ€™s awesome. Iโ€™m fairly positive Iโ€™ll never find a gold coin. However, I said that about finding a trime sooooooooo maybe. Great job you lucky dog!!!!!

A very nice coin that gave you that banner congrats!
But I loved the (headless) cooper statuette, too. Could you post some more pics of it? What is it made of?
