Sometimes... Haven't been able to get out much the last few weeks, mostly due to lack of productive or exciting places to detect. Out of the blue a friend called me. He heard through the grapevine I detect and invited me to come out to his early 1900s house to see what I can find. What a guy.. even said I can keep what I find. I stopped by but only was able to hunt for about an hour. There are several old out buildings and foundations but Its kind of hard to get into it with someone standing over you watching. But I still found a couple cool things. The plate I thought was a can lid or something at first, I didn't really look at it until later. The warranted superior thing is a nut for an old hand saw. The eagle button and knife I found on my last adventure just never posted.
I have permission to come back anytime pretty much, so I'm lookin forward to that. Also in the same week have the ok from the gifs aunt to detect her two early 1900s houses.. winning.

Thanks guys. The button is only from the 40s or 50s though its not one of the cw ones unfortunately. But it's still cool and makes me want to do more relic hunting. Thanks or looking good luck

are you sure about that? Unless it's a reenactment button it sure looks CW era to me. Can you post a pic of the back?
post script...I didn't notice the butterfly knife the first time I saw this post. That's a cool find you don't see every day.

Here's some more pics. I'm really not sure now that you say that. I had read something after I found it and was pretty sure it's post ww2 but now I can't find that site so I could be wrong.

I couldn't find the exact backmark but it definitely looks like general service 1854-1875. It also has the ring of dots and two stars which I think would narrow it down to 1860-1875. sweet find man!
