Hey folks!
Got out for a few hours today. It is super dry here in Seattle because it hasn't rained in two months. Not sure I'll do much more detecting until it rains (hopefully tomorrow!) because the digging is so exhausting in this dry dirt.
I spent about 3 hours today hunting the sidewalk strips near a church at the end of my block. Managed a fair bit of clad, 4 wheats, 2 King George VI Canadian pennies and one interesting token.
The token reads "Norm Sadler U.S. Navy" on the front and "Nat. Park Spokane" on the back. Anyone ever see a token like this before?
Here are my totals from the sidewalk strips:
-1 US Navy token
-4 Wheaties (27, 44, 45, 58 D)
-2 King George VI Canadian Pennies (40, 42)
-30 Memorial Cents
-2 Nickels
-5 Dimes
-1 Quarter
I also took the neighbor kid out today. He is 13 years old and autistic but has communicated an interest in metal detecting. We spent about an hour out front of his house (built in 1900) looking for treasure. I spent half the time detecting and then he spent half the time detecting. He didn't quite get the technique down but he loved looking for stuff!
We found about 10 pennies out there, one of them being a 1955 wheatie. He was stoked!
The poor kid couldn't dig in the dry ground so I ended up providing all the labor
. I told him we'll have to go again when the ground softens up from some rains, he seemed really excited!
