Well let me say that this trip is really about 3 of us here at t-net and another mutal Bahamian friend !! Myself, @SADS 669 , @Magoopeter and our Bahamian friends!! These guys are great and we all met here at t-net !! I always fish on this far out Bahamian island, and sads and I have had quite a few adventures over the years !! Well this one was no different...except I came to explore only and had no other obligations to fishing or work...a vacation!! The trip was a complete success!! And although @Magoopeter couldn't make it in person he pitched in with ideas research, and theories as to what we were discovering. But the first day was a disaster....flight canceled!! And hotel for the night .... gonna miss a day already. We'll lemon to lemonade!! Free room at "Breezes resort" cable beach Bahamas 🇧🇸!! Guess what happened that night at sunset detecting cable beach ..... RING RETURN !! to a newly Wed couple !! Married on Monday, lost ring on Wednesday, and I returned ring on Saturday !! Wooo hooo !!

Not only that, the first ring I found, was not there's!! So after after a few minutes of shock I started again, and first target was it !! Here's the first ring I found

Both rings were heavy tungsten!!

So after another half day flying I hit the ground running and never looked back until 4 days later !! Wooo hooo it was killer. Pirate shipwreck beach, plantation with slave whipping post site, old 18th century possibly 17th century church site, and mystery plantation site with lost tomb !! Over the years sads and I have had some adventures but this on was great 4 days with sads and our Bahamian friends!!

Either way we used a backhoe from a nearby sand mining operation to move some big boulders , and sure enough in the loose disturbed sand up comes the pirate reale from a site that has produced others for us....especially if you know me here at t-net !! We scrambled through the bush the next day at the slave whipping post site and got a silver spoon bowl, a spent musket ball, a very unique mystery lead object, slave flat button, broken 1700s bottle top, and many many colorful pottery fragments it took sads and our Bahamian friends hours to hack our way into these still standing ruins isolated in thick Bahamian bush !!

At the church site things date way back and it's absolutely incredible site with standing bell tower , and even some rafters left .... it dates to 1600s Spanish occupation, and I got a bronze tudor rose church door ornament....just a killer find right buy the rectory entrance steps !! Then I found some curch window glass stii sitting in the dirt just under one opening!!

Just mid blowing little pieces of history that give us a glimpse of the opulence of a Spanish colonial church ⛪️ I'll make a shadow box of artifacts from this site and return with it for the local museum. The one reale I'll mount in gold for my Bahamian friend made from freshly dropped gold rings I've found this summer !!I'll take you guys along for the coin transformation in this thread as it goes....starting to clean it now. The chips of pottery and shards of glass will be made into art In The form of a framed mosaic. There's plenty more stuff to share from this trip, but I'll have to see if I can grab some frames from video to show you guys.

Boy that looks like a blast.
I have to admit it was a favorite trip for me....caves, bush, beach, and the church !! I plan to do the church glass honor !! I will mount and donate the big pieces of church glass and rosette !! I'll donate that to the local museum!! But I'll keep a few small pieces for jewelry. I've already preformed a couple pieces !!

this is "florantine" pattern pressed glass in light purple. I was able to match this type of glass to the date the church was redone in 1888. This glass was likley at the tops of the widow openings .

I might even use gold and diamonds in the mount....it feels good to be able to identify some of this very old churches features !! Pressed glass windows, and tudor rose 🌹 rosettes!! So for me the cobb is great, but the glass is my favorite at the moment !! Throw in great t-net friends, and a ring return too, and wow !! It's one of my favorite trips/hunts ever !!

DUDE!!! Again just awesome :hello2: So amazing seeing your excitement on this trip. Your such an inspiration to us all. Living out your dreams :love4:
These photos are really good. The "Ring Return" was a special treat for the end of a tough start. We're here with awaiting eyes for more upcoming finds..... Keep in Reale :laughing7::skullflag:

Great post Bart. If I didn't know better I'd think you enjoyed yourself over there!!

That unidentified object in the third to last image with the threads looks like one half of a door peep hole.

In the photo with the spoon, what is next to the ships spikes. (Kind of like a pawn or game piece?)
Well...I have several mystery pieces, and it seems the early folks always amaze with the bits and bobs and what they turn out to be....so here ya go....the lead thingy !!

it's lead, conical, spiral..ish in design, it has a broken pipe stem in it, and I'd swear it was the mouth piece of a pipe....only I can't find anything pipe related at all example wise !! At first I thought broken extractor stuck in a bullet. It has me stumped??

Thanks surf pirate 🤙🤙 maybe we can figure out what this lead thingy is now !!

Bart-

Measure the diameter of the conical hole in that piece...looks suspiciously like a portion of a clay pipe stem, and hole diameter can sometimes be used to date the pipe...

ag

ps

Use a drill bit to measure....be aware that 99% of pipes have been bored in Imperial sixty fourths since the 1600's...

Time Period Diameter

1590 to 1620 9/64 inches

1620 to 1650 8/64 inches

1650 to 1680 7/64 inches

1680 to 1720 6/64 inches

1720 to 1750 5/64 inches

Kurt....it is 100% a pipe stem inside what looks to be a homemade lead mouthpiece....if you look closely at the end of the mouthpiece you can see where it has been chewed....it actually has teeth marks on it !! After searching the internet high and low I can't find another example quite like it ?? If I place it in my mouth it fits my teeth relatively well.....rests in the corner of the mouth just like Popeye held his in his mouth !! I will measure today, and your info on pipe diameter is greatly appreciated!!

Thank you Arfie....it was a fantastic trip....a ring return, a 1732 cobb coin, beautiful church door rosette, and a fantastic time adventuring with good friends....one of my favorite trips ever !!

It was for giving "shotguns". 😮‍💨

And those added images of the church construction from the arched window to the eroded plaster over the stonework are very interesting.

And some of the best panoramic views looking out over the houses and water off in the distance.

Brilliant that is fantastic dating tool that might help determine an age of a site.

I have leaned some thing today. Always a good day when you learn some thing.

Bart-

Was drinking coffee this am and dug out a few coin books....

The COB?.... 1 Reale...still trying to identify the mint... do me a favor and weight it please...

The pipe stem I suspect is early 1700's...looks like a "Burley twist" style... possibly british... maybe Midlands region...was a popular style in the area in the 1700's... just a guess.

I also think...that you may have a Chinese coin there as well...workin on it... any other markings?
