Went to the beach today and there was about a 4' drop-off down to the wet sand. Oh Boy......
Found about $8 in clad and a nice old looking silver ring. Ring was black and encrusted. It cleaned up very well.
Pulled the ring from about 10" down in the wet sand. Almost gave up on it.....lost the signal and made one more scoop
and got it out.

Very cool Silver, I'm guessing but I would say it is in the area of 50 years old, thinking 1960's? Older then many around here...

nice ring. how'd you clean it?

I lined a bowl with aluminum foil.......added vinegar and baking soda and one cup of boiling water.
Let it set for a while and buffed it clean.

What causes you to lose the signal? Just wondering. Is it the target being moved and perhaps buried deeper by the digging?

Interesting ring. I was working the cuts near " tables beach " this weekend and found clad, mostly quarters, from the 1970's and 80's in front of the cuts. Top of the beach had nothing at all. Waves are down and sand is filling in again.

Sometimes when you're digging the target you move it around....and it does fall deeper into the hole. It's difficult to be able to swing your coil in the hole you've dug also, especially in the wet sand area.
It always fills up with water, and the sand falls off the edges into your hole.
I went to the beach again today and it is sanding back in. I was able to find quarters and dimes near the top of the cut.
I assume all the heavy stuff is deeper down right now.
