Nana, Terri and I had a great week hunting. I found my first two old coins and what
to ya know?...I can't read a date on either one of them. I don't care, I love them!

I found the Indian Head Cent at a friends neighbors. His grandparents house was
here but burned.

Great finds, DB! Congrats on your 1st IH & Buffalo. Still waiting to find my 1st IH.

;) RR

Those Buffalo nickle just don't age very well in the dirt. A few more years and they'll all be just a crusty disc with very little details

Very nice coins!!! I would take them any day. Way to find the old coins!

Very nice---Congrats on that IH and buffalo.

I'm so happy for ya! You won't forget where you found those firsts either. :) A great week of huntin!

Nana :)

Great finds feel good....

WTG

I would hope that you will return to that site for more.... DPSB

Congrats! You've got to love the coins, and the relics are nice too! The site pics are a bonus. It looks like a sweet spot! Is that rubble from the house that burned down?

Cheers and HH,
Bman

Congrats on the firsts. sounds like a great hunt

Looks like a couple of great places to hunt.
Have fun with the in the future.

Congrats on the two firsts. I also found my first IH and buff on the same hunt. The buff was dateless but the IH was 1898. Looks like a good hunting spot. Keep at it!

Congradulations on those 2 finds. I wonder what you could put on those to help bring the dates out? I've often wonder that but never searced for the answer but I'm sure someone on tnet knows.
Congrats again,
Ed ;D

Very good finds there. You sure found some good stuff. You might be able to find the old out house pit. Hunt between it and where the back door to the house would have been.

Nic-a-date works pretty good for those no-date buffaloes...Be sure not to put that stuff on the nickel in a stainless steel sink like I did...(IT WILL LEAVE STAINS)...It will get you spanking, lol....But if you like spankings go for it, lol...

As for the IH you can put it in virgin olive oil and let it soak for a few months but if you do it will be hard to put the coin in a plastic sleeve to display because the oil will continue to seep out the oil that has soaked into the metal. Here's a link to eBay where you can buy that nic-a-date. This seller has a very good feedback rating. Best of luck to you and thanks for sharing your finds and great pics.

Thanks everyone! We really do have some great places to hunt. They keep us so
busy I don't get anything done at home! ;)

Bmanley - The pasture is where the house burned. The rubble site is where I found
the Buffalo.

Danglang - I remembered reading about this stuff but couldn't remember the name
of it. Thanks!

Thanks to all the rest of you for your congrats and HH!

Congratulations on your first IH and Buffalo! May there be many more to come!
