I had little time to spend and did part of a roman site nearby. Still lots of trash and i hoped for some roman coins left. It was a bit disappointing but the only roman coin coming up was a nice one of Constantius with a not so common back and a mintmark i couldn't id. Too bad it's damaged. Beautiful coin...
Got some decorated pottery i like and part of a broken scythestone which looked covered with mud like a neolithic adze. Bummer.

Looks like several bullets in that batch, but, in all honesty, what good are they other than scrap metal?

Nice going but I would not consider it all trash 11 Is that one a 50 cal bullet ?
Most of that is driving band fragments, fuze parts, .50 bullets and casings, rifle bullets and casings.... I dig hundreds of them every year. All goes into the scrap metal bin. I average around 100 pounds a year in brass alone...

Same here, I dig a lot of them too and they all end up in the scrap bin.

Not mandatory. Just nice decorated basic pottery. The red piece is Samian pottery, the better roman tableware, but no decorated pieces found and this one has no makers stamp. But definitely not poor romans as they had clay roof tiles.
