Well, I've done it. Took about 6 months, but reached the 500,000 cent mark. Man, I need a life. Here's my breakdown:

Approximately 503,000 total cents
6 Indian Heads (1888 oldest)- 1/83,834 cents
2,803 wheats (oldest 1911)- 1/179 cents
2 Steel Wheats-1/250,250 cents
2,582 2009- 1/195 cents
1,052 Canadian (25 George VI, 1 George V)- 1/478 cents
22 Foreign coins- 1/22,684
5 Panama, 5 Bahamas, 3 Spanish, 2 Poland, 2 Swiss, 1 ea: Czechoslovakia, Bermuda, Slovakia, New Zealand, Barbados
4 Proofs (1975, 1988, 2007, 2008)- 1/125,750 cents
8 2000 WAM- 1/62,875 cents
8 1998 WAM- 1/62,875 cents
2 1972 DDO-1/250,150 cents
1 1983 DDR

1 Plated 1963
1 Magician's Coin Double Tails
1 1976 Liberty Bell/US stamped
5 JFK Stamped=1/100,600 cents
3 random stamped= 1/167,667 cents
6 State stamped-1/83,334 cents
5 rolled pennies=1/100,600 cents
2 1983 CUDS
2 Clipped planchets
1 capped die
1 Lamination error

ONLY reason I've managed more wheats then 09s is that I found 2 dumps: one of 402, and another with 573. Haven't found an Indian head since the 145,000 mark, and 3 were in one bag, so a more realistic stat for those may be 4 out of the entire 503,000, so 1/125,750 cents. Think I'm firmly addicted.
Happy Hunting Everyone!

Nice job on choosing the categories, and big props on investing the effort to track it. I've never been disciplined enough to track results.

The surprise I see is the low number on steels. When I did bags, my average was 1 steel for every 6-8 bags. I ended up with 3/4 of a roll before my CU cut me off (due to corporate policy of not selling bags). Could your source's coin machine have a magnet trap? Have you every talked to your supply bank about the coin counter magnet or reject bin? Some will give it to you.

My bank has a bag of pennies right now...I don't always take the pennies, but I'm a stats junkie and I think I just found a new project! Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

Rosco: you must love being a numbers cruncher just by the records you keep of your finds. Nice job.

Just curious if those '83 cuds were on the reverse, say on the NE CEN area?
Nice stats by the way. That IS dedication.

I'm sure you are familiar with this, but here it is for anyone else that's interested.

Interesting. Got any pics of the 72 DDO's?

No, both were on the obverse, about 5:00 on it. Honestly didn't even know about that site either, so thanks for the link!

I don't see why not. I just have a simple excel sheet, just have to plug in the #'s after a bag/search... I sort out key dates, then look at them with my USB microscope after, so have my PC open anyway...

This is the coin I was hoping for you. It is a counterclash that also shows the cud on the reverse in the NE CE area. Pretty rare and valuable.

Fairly specialized I know, but interesting when you look at and understand the mechanics of what happened to create it.

You found some really nice varieties.
Is that '83 DDR the "big one" (001)?

Congrats.

Good luck on making it to 1,000,000 - I mean that seriously. I've searched through close to half a million cents, and I had to dial it way back due to finger pain. I don't know how old you are, but for me searching cents really played havoc with arthritis, trigger finger, and I suspect carpal tunnel syndrome. Halves I can handle just fine edge searching, but the smaller diameter cents combine with greater handling time due to date searching kills me. I still do cents, just not as often.

Good luck and have fun, but be careful.
