Doing more planting in the field, and came across a few more flakes, a possible hammerstone, and mystery “tooth”. 😂
Did I find a hammerstone? I feel like it looks like it wouldn’t be natural, but clearly I’m a newb. LOL
Also, found this very small, rounded broken quartz piece. I’m calling it a tooth because that’s what I thought it looked like before I picked it up!! It is shiny smooth on the unbroken side, and looks like it would be something small, almost like a bead if it were whole. All of this was found in the same area as my recent points.
Attached a pic of one of the quartz flakes also because I thought it was beautiful and had interesting veining- would love to find the point made from this crystal!!
Just thought I’d post, thanks again for your help. 😊

well... it is clearly a natural shape and any stone can be a hammer stone. so.. maybe? A good example would have the patina on the used end looking very different than the rest of the rock.

I know what you mean! It’s hard for me to tell from examples I’ve seen because most of them just look like rocks with the ends beat up. lol It’s so hard to get a good picture of the color difference on the wear side, but I definitely see a color difference around the edges. Thanks for the help

That could very well be hammerstone IMO. I think that is battering on the flat end and worn smooth around the edges.
Thanks for the reply! Yes there is definitely a difference on the flat end. The other part that I thought was interesting was the little “wear” on the other end. My hand fits perfect in the notches. I know you can’t determine a tool by the way it fits in your hand, but I wanted to show because I thought it was cool.
