Found this in my neighbor’s yard about 9” down, near where I’ve found a lot of horse tack, a ring, a victrola key and an 1850 large cent. It’s got a greenish patina— I think maybe brass?

They are probably parts from a carriage more than likely. Brass would be for something that wouldn't be so utilitarian as a wagon I am thinking rein guides and possible lantern holder. If you could seperate them and photograph individually each one might be something different.

You must have thought you found a hubcap when your machine sounded over that. Cool find.

Makes sense. I’ve found all kinds of beautiful horse tack there, brass buckles of every shape and size. This is in a suburban neighborhood I’d of N. NJ, where houses now stand but Ive found outbuildings shown on old maps. I think ther must have been a blacksmith‘s forge or something too…lots of hand forged iron

So I found more pix of rein guides for carriage or sled. That's definitely what this is. Thank you, treasure gurus for i.d.ing it!
