HERNDON, Pa – There are reports from lower Northumberland County this morning, that a pedestrian was struck and killed by a piece of apparatus responding to a reported accident.

Northumberland County 9-1-1 says state police and first responders responded to a report of a crash at 2:20am, on Route 147 Lower Mahanoy Township south of Herndon.

Social media reports today indicate there is a report one of the pieces of responding apparatus hit a pedestrian.

The county tells us, the Northumberland County Coroner’s office was summoned.

No more details are out from state police or county dispatchers.

the word going around is the ambulance responding hit and killed him.

oh btw the rumors were wrong, but the truth don't make it any better.

A woman was killed in Northumberland County early Thursday morning when she was struck by a fire truck.



According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Stonington, the incident occurred on Thursday, July 28th, 2022, around 2:30am.
Troopers say, on Route 147 in Lower Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County, Rebecca Wenrich, 66, of Dalmatia walked into the path of a fire truck that was responding to a crash.

Wenrich was struck and killed, and pronounced dead at the scene by Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley.

State Police have not said if charges will be filed against the driver of the fire truck.
