Found this at an estate sale, with a bunch of other random stuff. I'm thinking it's some sort of kitchen tool, maybe a meat mallet. My wife thinks you fill the back with ice to cool it, then use it on dough. It weighs 1.28 pounds and is 8 inches long, with a 5 inch handle. I haven't cleaned it yet, but I'm thinking about taking it down to brass and putting a good polish on it. Of course I'll wait to figure out what it is first, I don't want to alter a potentially valuable item.

It's called a Jigger Whack. From the 1950's, it's barware made for smashing ice, scooping the ice, and measuring the booze. When new, it came in a cylindrical tin, with a "apron" type deal that had a pocket for the ice so it wouldn't fly all over the place. Probably worth less than $5 as is. I think I will get rid of the chrome and make the brass shine like the sun. It will probably live on a shelf after that.
