We were recently given an abandoned storage unit. My husband brought this to me and I’ve concluded it “is” an Atocha coin. I see it is not good but silver, and extraordinarily shiny. Which isn’t a great sign, but can I get some help with it’s worth, or if it’s even remotely real/valuable? Or if I’m wrong all together. I’m planning to take the collections to an expert but that’s cities away unfortunately.

You can see the mold seam on the outer rim easily in your pics and the worn spots are probably where it was bezeled at one time. Sold as copys for those not affording the real deal.....

Pictures are out of focus so blowing up doesn't help. It does not look authentic, I do not like the lip around the coin, why do you think it is an Atocha coin?

Only 128 gold Atocha coins have beenactually found to date, with just one being discovered in the United States...Would be worth 100 Grand....Here is an article, perhaps may help you...

It could have been made from one of the big silver bars. It appears newly made and does not look original to the wreck.

Unfortunately, I agree with the "probably fake" sentiment. It looks too clean. Did it come in a coin sleeve? Was there a small piece of paper that had numbers on it in the sleeve? This paper would definitely help change my mind.

Copy.. The assayer markings aren't correct for it to be related to the Atocha..
