This spoon is also posted over on today's discoveries and thought I'd post it over here too. Follow the link for a little extra background on where it was found.

More Campsite Spoons and Clues (Plus a fork)

So far I know it is sterling and depicts a sail boat on the water with a cabin in the background and birds in the sky. There are two marks on the handle "R10" and another mark I can't quite make out. It looks like a key attached to something. The bowl measures 1-7/8" across. Any help with identifying the date or maker is greatly appreciated!

For a teabag ?

Um.. sterling ? tested ?
I ask due to the obvious greening which would indicate silver on copper plating.

Not tested, but there is a spot that's broken on the handle and you can see the silver all the way through. Btw, I've dug a barber dime covered in greening.

From some of the older, finer restaurants, the waiter would carry a devise like your on a chain around his neck. When he opened your bottle of wine he would take a sip to be sure it was ok. Just a swag, by the way.

I've read that people used them for tasting. Not sure I've ever been in a fancy enough restaurant to see one lol

It is a spoon caddy. Dutch, the symbol is a sword indicating .833 silver, key indicates export, and date between 1814-1905, the R indicates 1850, the 10 indicates the duty tax.
