I am requesting help identifying an antique windshield that I found metal detecting. I do not know a lot in this field and am reaching out to someone who knows more about antique cars. It is 53 inches long by 18 inches high in the middle. The windshield is also completely flat, not curved and not laminated glass. Thanks! That is what I thought, but all jeeps are completely square and have a metal frame surrounding the entire glass. Even on the old Willys jeeps.

And they are good and flat so rocks don't bounce off. I have had three in my jeep over the years.

I work on antique cars...

the two tracks on the bottom, means the glass could be raised and lowered.

That is a very long piece of glass, so I don't believe it is antique plate glass. I believe it must be tempered glass. If it is, look real close in one corner for letters/numbers etched in. Sometimes they are hard to see.

at this point, I'd say it is a rear tailgate window for a station wagon type of car

based on it's shape, I would tend to believe it's a rear window. a lot of antique or vintage front windows were slightly curved at the bottom to form with the shape of the hood. being frameless as well, I'm wondering if it was retractable

I'd say no later than the mid 60's tailgate glass. Most (but not all) models after that had curved glass. Is there a logo etched into the glass? Usually they're put in one of the lower corners or the center bottom or top close to the edge. Sometimes they're pretty faint, so, you may have to look closely and get the light right.

Looks like a mid 80s K5 blazer rear glass ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1451693974.786728.jpg

Wow that's close H-D! Looks a little too angled on the sides though.

With as straight and long as it is, I'm leaning towards an interior privacy glass partition.Like something you would find on a Rolls or Bentley Limo.

That's the partition window to either a limousine or hearse, according to my ex who did windshield repairs and replacement.
