Found in a creek as a kid in the SF bay area.
May have been Miwok.
Very well made and looks to be granite.
The shiny thing in the pic is a quarter for size (the flash went off).

Very nice Charm Stone . I found one as a kid up by the Devils Punch Bowl East Oakland .

Yep looks like a really nice Plummet, can you post a profile picture also one from the top where the groove is looking down would help. Nice find

Wow you guys are good --- I did a google image search on Indian Charmstone and plummet and you guys nailed it.
Thanks --- it's very well made so I'm thinking Charmstone I would never put that much time into making a fishing weight the way I fish.
