Found this Wahams & co "Superfine" button with what appears to be a otter standing on rocks near a waters edge. Was told this particular button wasn't in the "big book of buttons" and could be a very valuable specialty collector piece and that it can be dated back to late 1700's, early 1800's? Wondering if there's any truth to this and if someone more knowledgeable on these buttons can weigh in a little. Thx

Welcome to Tnet.

That's a nice button but Wadhams buttons don't pre-date 1835 and the company name expressed as "Wadhams & Co" has the specific timeframe of 1847-1849.

I don't know what that animal is meant to be, but they produced a number of civilian buttons with animal depictions, loosely known as "sporting buttons".

Appreciate the input. Came across this eBay listing or a similar button that's worded as being a "Polar Bear" 🤷🏻‍♂️. What's your thoughts on the type of animal

Funny looking Polar Bear! I,d go with Otter,Sea Otter!
Yeap, but remember this is circa 1850 & not many people had actually seen a real Polar Bear.
Like already stated they are loosely in the Sports Buttons Category or as I like to say Hunts Button. (although in this case the hunter's button image was probably never hunted!)
