Help! What is this?

Hello!

This was found off of the northern California coast, in shallow waters during a low tide.
After scraping the thick layer of rust away I discovered this interesting tool or weapon or both, in not sure.

It resembles a dag knife, and it also resembles a Roman dagger.
Please... if anyone has any insight or knowledge, enlighten me.

IMO... it MAY be a harpoon tip or some other spear / harpoon type fishing implement that has been broken off.

Harpoon would have some sort of barbs to keep it “dug in”. Looks like a dagger by looking at the tang.

What metal is it made from ? is it magnetic ? ? ?
If it is not magnetic then it is most definitely fishing related.

That is... unless it was bronze age related.... which i highly doubt.
That would mean someone pitched it.
