cropped spongy devices with a weight of 1.9 grams, edge is zinc, so not a dime planchet.
my guesses are---
foreign planchet?
or weak test strike?
or some variant of a capped die strike?----
does not appear to be a "dryer" coin or tampering..... HELP

Maybe it was just a zinc cent ground down to pass as a dime?

Following. I'd like to see this solved. I found a Lincoln Cent like this about 20 years ago while metal detecting.

Looks stunningly similar to a zinc cent I pulled out of my washer the last time I removed debris from beneath the agitator.

Most look like the typical “dryer” coin, but one of them looked a lot like yours. Lots of edge wear, with much less obverse and reverse.

Time for more coffee.
