How old is this teapot lid?

I found this lid yesterday in a farm field next an old home site (now long gone) that I'll be detecting on Friday.
The colour of this piece is deep brown or red, the problem is that I have no idea how old it is?

I've always referred to these as 'Brown Betty' teapots, the trouble is that I can't find a Brown Betty online with a matching finial on the lid. "A Brown Betty is a type of teapot, round and with a manganese brown glaze known as Rockingham glaze. This clay resulted in a ceramic which seemed to retain heat better and so found use as the material for the teapot as early as the seventeenth century. These early pots were tall and shaped more like coffee pots." Any help as far as to the date of this piece would be appreciated.

id say its modern ceramic, based on glaze and shape
imo of course - brady

I don't recall seeing one with a finial which is that shape, but it wouldn't be the traditional design and it's not an authentic 'Brown Betty'. Loads of places make imitations, but an authentic Brown Betty is always made from Euturia red clay, which shows as reddish brown on the fired areas that have been wiped clean of glaze (the bottom of the pot and the lid)... not white or off-white like yours.

Of course you're right Red-Coat, this piece does not show the distinctive characteristics of the red clay that the original Brown Betty's are known for. Stylistically, the finial might date anywhere from 1930 - 60. I guess I was just hoping this was an old original teapot top, as it had some rusted iron fused to the top when I found it.
