Jeff - It has nothing to do with censorship and everything to do with $$$.

Many of those old movies are still quite popular. Of course, they keep track of how often they are viewed and, if popular enough, one of the big guys buys the rights to it so they can cash in on the popularity. HBO Max owns TONS of old classics. Seems like every time I want to watch an old favorite, they want $3.99 for that privilege.

It happened to me at Christmas time. One of my holiday traditions is to watch the 1947 version of 'Miracle on 34th Street.' I couldn't find my DVD copy so I went on line to view it. $3.99 from HBO Max... >:(

it's the only ape movie I liked.
by the time the second one came out i was bored watching it.
the 3rd don't remember watching. only one i wanted to see again was the original
